Construction and Technical Skills

Below are examples of both properties and costume construction, as well as sample of hand and machine sewing.

Costume Construction

She Kills Monsters - Orcus Mask Construction

For She Kills Monsters, I was the hair and makeup designer, but I was also in charge of creating a mask for Orcus so he could seamlessly transition between the real world and the Dungeons and Dragons world.

It was created from PVA foam, foam clay and a pattern by Kamui Cosplay, and then airbrushed.

Rodger and Hammerstein's Cinderella

Marie's dress was construction entirely by myself, from a McCall's pattern that had been slightly altered. This was then combined with a specialized cloak to create a transformation dress with the help of my mentor and costume shop manager, Cassie Kay Hoppas.

Scenic Construction

The Gulf by Audrey Cefaly - Boat Set Piece

For this project, I was given three weeks to create every technical element for the play The Gulf. The boat was designed by me, with scenic plans drawn up on my own, and construction done almost entirely by myself. The entire project had a $100 budget, meaning my material was very limited, and I often worked with leftover wood or scraps from our scenic shop.

Properties Construction

Romeo and Juliet Fake Weapons - Brick

I was tasked with making fake weapons for a post-apocolyptic version of Romeo and Juliet where they used makeshift weapons. This brick was constructed with dense foam so it wouldn't be a danger to actors during fight choreography, but would still make a noice when thrown.

Fun Home - Bechdel Comic Recreations

These are recreations of real Alison Bechdel comics that were spread across our set and included in the sketch books for the characters. Every comic had a significance in the scene it was featured in.

Stagecraft/Properties Project - Sokka's Weapons from Avatar: The Last Airbender

Here is a few process photos and the final product of a project done for my Stagecraft class at UCM. The project consisted of selected an important prop from a movie or TV show and bringing it to life. I have also attached my reference photo.
